VIOLATION

So in case you were wondering the corned beef slab of meat turned out OK- Daniel and Kate liked it. I couldn't get on board by the texture alone. Oh well.

Daniel and I have a new weekend favorite. Next time you and your SO are at home on a Saturday night head to http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/ Have one person read all the commentary aloud and get ready to LYAO. Like how how I used not one but 2 Internet abbreviations. If you can't figure them out- do what your parents used to tell you to do and look them up. :-)

Our weekend was ho-hum. We did some birthday shopping, grocery shopping, lounged around, got crafty with a gift for Kate (pics later), and Daniel and Kate went swimming while me and the cutie pie got some bonding time.

And... We got a letter from the city stating we were in violation of a city ordinance. The mailman delivered this little piece of fun in the 9:00 hour on Saturday morning by certified mail. Hello we law violators have to sleep in! What with all our law breaking and shenanigans late into the night. What did we do to cause said violation? Apparently we didn't mow our grass in the back yard. But wait- we did mow the grass and by we I mean Daniel. It appears that the geniuses that re-did our house before we bought it put the fence up farther and the property line extends beyond that. So I guess we're technically responsible for the "blighting influence on the neighborhood" which mainly consists of these little tree suckers called Tree of Heaven which starts out looking like a weed but is actually a tree.

I guess there are also some other weeds and tall grass back there too. We were told by a city employee in the past that it was considered an ally way and wasn't our responsibility to maintain it. So Daniel doused the whole area in Roundup and we're waiting for something to happen since there is no possible way to mow back there at this point. I have a call in to the Neighborhood Standards Officer and I'm waiting for a call back. Wouldn't you like that to be your job? You too could spend your day getting on to people for letting their yard get weedy and leaving their car on cinder blocks too long. I'm just curious as to which one of our more classy neighbors reported us.

Onto happier and more important news- Kate turns 5 tomorrow. Yippee!! We're headed to Wichita for some girl shopping fun and then Daniel will meet us for dinner at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse. This kid acts you're trying to poison her with a carrot but loves what all 5 year olds love- Miso soup. Hmm It was her choice. I'm excited anyway! More details and pics of the day later.
